Greetings
[[firstname]],
Constant Health for Improving Immune,
Intestinal & Detox!
It ain't easy being a cell these
days.
Nutrition is scarce and toxins are
plentiful. Hormones, pesticides, heavy metals, and more, infiltrate the bodies
of even most healthy eaters.
Cells have to take what they can from processed,
sugar-laden foods. They're constantly being attacked by free radicals, and it's
all they can do to shovel toxins out of your system and keep up with demands.
Over time, cell membranes can
become damaged, and it's even harder to get nutrients in and toxins out. It's
also harder to communicate with with their fellow cells to keep your body running
smoothly.
With a damaged membrane, keeping
harmful pathogens out becomes a losing battle, leaving your body more
susceptible to disease and dysfunction.
If this kat were to listen in on
the secret lives of cells, methinks I might here, "What's a poor cell to do?"
Constant Health: A Formula for
Your Ten Trillion Cells
Okay, so your little cells are
toiling (ha ha) to keep your bad habits from catching up with
you. It seems that Cindy is as fond of all those little cells as some folks are
of their furry friends.
Cindy has become obsessed with
cellular nutrition and put together a winning combination of ingredients in
Constant Health for improving your body’s immune system, intestinal, and detox
functions.
With gentle rice protein
(vegetarian formula), Constant Health packs a multitude of antioxidants, a good
dose of fiber (2.5 per scoop), and powerful detoxifying agents.
Specifically, the formula includes
substantive servings of:
-
L-Glycine & L-Glutamine (powerful
glutathione and metabolism boosters)
-
Curcumin & Boswellia (for you Arthro 3
fans who keep whining)
-
Red Raspberrry Seeds (a great source of
ellagitannins and anthocyanins)
-
Quercetin (one of the most potent
bioflavonoids plants use to protect against UV damage and microbes)
-
Slippery Elm (protects mucous membranes
in the stomach, intestines, and urinary tract)
-
Grape Seed Extract (highly-bioavailable
bioflavonoids that cross the blood-brain barrier and maintain cell
integrity)
-
N-Acetyl-Cysteine (on the “wish list”
for years for cellular detox & liver protection)
-
Calcium d-Glucarate (a potent
detoxifying agent, similar to indole-3-carbinol, but without the stink or
bad taste)
-
Milk Thistle (yep, another well-known
and potent detoxifying agent)
-
Plus… (vitamins and minerals selected
for intestinal and cellular health)

Protecting
Prostate Health!
It’s easy for men to talk about heart health, but
when it comes to libido and sexual vitality, mum’s the word. Men don’t want to
talk about it. Men don’t even want to think about it. Teri says,
“They just want it.”
Unfortunately there’s no getting around an aging
prostate, as at least half of all men will have to deal with age-related
prostate issues, and one in six of all men will be diagnosed with prostate
cancer in their lifetime.
The Prostate: Good Gland Turned
Mischievous with Age
The prostate is a walnut-sized gland
surrounding a man’s urethra. The prostate produces the fluid that carries the
sperm during ejaculation, and because of its position surrounding the urethra,
it plays a role in controlling the flow of urine.
Trouble is, around age 40, hormone levels change
and cell growth accelerates, spurring the prostate to grow.
At first, many men experience few symptoms, but
eventually as the prostate continues to swell around the urethra, urinary flow
may become somewhat restricted.
Thus, the bladder does not entirely empty during
urination, leading to that “gotta go” feeling far too often.
Most of the time, these symptoms mean “benign
prostatic hyperplasia”, or BPH for short. BPH is not a form of cancer, nor is it
considered a precursor to prostate cancer. Mostly it’s just annoying.
Prostate
Health with Lifestyle and Supplement
Support
Besides what happens normally with age, there are
some known contributors to prostate problems.
Here’s
a quick rundown on lifestyle adjustments to support prostate health.
·
Keep Hydrated.
Drinking less fluid to avoid night time trips to the loo only invites
dehydration and even infection. Drink more fluid during the day, just not before
bedtime.
·
Cut down on
caffeine and alcohol. Both increase urgency and frequency.
·
Exercise.
New research shows that older men who exercise regularly have a much lower risk
of dying from prostate cancer.
·
Eat well.
There is no substitute for a balanced diet, and be conscious of overindulging,
which can cause systemic inflammation, affecting prostate swelling too.
·
Stay in love.
Having sex is proven to benefit prostate health by reducing toxins in prostate
tissues, and clearing microdeposits in the ducts of the prostate gland. Teri
says, “Use it or lose it fellows!”
·
Avoid
decongestants and antihistamines. All these tend to restrict urinary
flow.
Beta Sitosterol and
Saw Palmetto
-- Prostate Health Favorites
Beta Sitosterol and Saw Palmetto Complex have been
favored by Co-op men for years. Here’s
why:
Beta Sitosterol
– works to alleviate discomfort associated with BPH by increasing urinary flow
rates, and decreasing residual urinary volume and prostate size. If that weren’t
enough, beta sitosterol has been proven to be the single most effective
supplement in supporting normal cholesterol levels.
We’ve heard it over and
over that our Beta Sitosterol provides better relief than competing products.
We’re not surprised. Our formulation is more concentrated and provides in 150mg
what some formulas cannot provide in 500mg.
Pssst.
Beta sitosterol is also a heavyweight in inhibiting cholesterol absorption in
the intestines – by about 50%.
Saw Palmetto Complex contains proven ingredients that
support prostate health and the aging man’s “quality of life”:
·
Saw Palmetto
- helps improve urinary flow and reduce frequency and urgency of urination.
As an extra bonus, it’s anabolic, meaning it’s a muscle builder -- a bonus for
aging bodies!
Saw palmetto also exhibits anti-inflammatory and hormone balancing effects. Some
folks say saw palmetto helps prevent hair loss and claim it is also an
aphrodisiac. Is that really true?! Inquiring minds want to know.
·
Pygeum Africanum
- lowers levels of prolactin, which stimulates hormones in the prostate to
increase prostate size and tissue density. This is particularly important for
beer drinkers, as beer increases levels of prolactin (take note, Budweiser
fans). Pygeum also helps regulate the immune system and insulin activity.
·
Pumpkin Seed Oil
– regarded as a ‘superfood,’ it is rich in vitamins A and E, loaded with zinc
(essential to prostate function), and high in Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids.
Pumpkin seeds also offer antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, and
regulate the hormones that cause the prostate gland to grow and swell.
·
Uva Ursi
- a urinary antiseptic, which can help protect the prostate from infection
moving backwards from the urinary tract. It can also help with painful
urination.
In addition to these prostate health staples,
there are several other great ways to support your prostate:
·
Vitamin C - a diuretic, which works to keep your system clean by
fighting infections.
·
Selenium – one study shows that selenium use can
cut prostate cancer risk by 67%.
·
Fiber –
supports prostate health by lowering PSA (prostate specific antigen)
levels and inhibiting carcinogenic cellular activity by binding with carcinogens
and other harmful compounds and eliminating them from the body. Stinkin’ fiber,
can’t get away from it.
·
Melatonin -
necessary for the proper function of the prostate. Melatonin has been
shown to reduce prostate weight and size, facilitating the prevention of
prostate cancer (fast fact: men who do have prostate cancer have low melatonin
levels).
·
DHEA - prostate problems do not happen until DHEA levels fall.
Did you know that if you are over 40, your levels have already fallen by 50%?
Interestingly, the lower the DHEA level the higher the rates of both BPH and
prostate cancer. Note:
Keep in mind that if you're already at risk
for prostate cancer, DHEA is not recommended for you.
·
Fish Oil - contains essential fatty acids, which are components
of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins regulate inflammation, pain, and swelling.
Prostaglandins benefit the prostate by inhibiting cell growth, potentially
stopping prostate growth, and reducing the likelihood of prostate disease. Just
buy this stuff by the case if you’re over 50. You’ll save yourself a lot of
grief.
