Greetings [[firstname]],

Fresh Probiotics Always In Stock at the Co-op!

Did you know the Co-op orders fresh Probiotics 16 every three months?!

Sure, we keep fresh stock of all our products, but since probiotics are a particularly sensitive commodity, we strive to keep newly manufactured friendly bugs coming through the doors regularly.

Some of our older members like to do the "buttermilk" test, putting our probiotics into a glass of milk and producing buttermilk. Gotta have live bugs to pull that one off!

Fast Fact: The Co-op tests every new production run to make sure we know (and you know) exactly what you're getting.

Here is our most recent test that shows off a whopping 13.6 billion friendly bacteria.

Stock up now! Better yet, turn your friends on to the freshest stock around!

Tess' Blog: Fountain of Youth

Who doesn't love a good story? Especially when it means learning something important about your health without having to wade through thick science jungles.

Enter Tess's new blog on healthy aging, Fountain of Youth. Even though Tess is still young, she has a reputation for being wise beyond her years. She is also incredibly dedicated to bringing health lessons that she's learned from over a decade of studying wellness.

A keen observer, Tess shares stories about her friends and family, their health challenges, and what it's like to know all the things you wish you knew when you were young.

Ta da! Here's the "Little Kat's" new blog:

(Somehow, Tess gained entry into the infamous feline club and was dubbed the "Little Kat" -- it's okay, I have a health ego, so it's not a problem!)

A Twenty-Something's Take on Healthy Aging

Learn what our favorite twenty-something has to say about aging. Tess has been studying physical, emotional and spiritual wellness for over 13 years. Working for the Co-op, she keeps learning new tricks of the trade. Tess shares what makes her a rather popular dinner guest, even with graying middle-aged yuppies who think they already know everything. Tee hee. ^..^

Read more on Tess's background and her passion for sharing with others

Iris - Windows to the Soul Gone Dark with Dementia

After watching Iris, a movie about British author Iris Murdock and her death from Alzheimer's, Tess wrote about her grandfather's increasing dementia and insights into the underpinnings of this terrible disease.

Sickbook: Cells Cry via Social Networking

After noticing repeat postings about sickness from a few  friends on Facebook (a social networking site for those of you who aren't up to date), Tess talks about the not-so-surprising correlations between lifestyle choices and health among these sickly souls.

Wireless Technology: Cigarette of the 21st Century?

Wireless hubs are multiplying like spring bunnies, but what are the consequences of swimming in a vast sea of wireless waves everyday? Tess shares new research on the dangerous effects of radiation from cell phone usage and ever-present wireless technology and also some tips on reducing your exposure.

Stevia: God's Gift to the Incorrigible Sweet Tooth?

For all you sugar-fiends out there, you'll get a chuckle as Tess muses about a friend on the Dr. Rodier Cleanse (the 8-week detoxification diet) who couldn't shake her sugar cravings and kept whining about needing exceptions to the rules. Finally, Tess realized her friend didn't know about stevia and you would think she had been holding out on the secret of the universe!

Health in the News

  • Dr. Oz's Five Warning Signs for Alzheimer's, Dr. Oz talks about how to spot Alzheimer's and what you can co to prevent this most frightening of degenerative diseases.

  • 'Silent Strokes' Linked to Kidney Failure in Diabetics. In patients with type 2 diabetes, silent cerebral infarction (SCI)—small areas of brain damage caused by injury to small blood vessels—signals an increased risk of progressive kidney disease and kidney failure, according to a study appearing in an upcoming issue of the Journal of the American Society Nephrology (JASN).

  • Women's Health Alert: Fighting Heart Disease in Your 40s. The risk for heart-related death is increasing in young adults ages 35 to 54, and the numbers are even more alarming for younger women. It is the number-one cause of death for both men and women in the United States, yet every year since 1984 more women have died of cardiovascular health problems than men, according to the American Heart Association.

That's all for now, fair members! ^..^

Still purringly yours,

Guido
