Cindy's Blog Updates: Visceral Manipulation +
Emotions & Disease
Cindy has been blogging on a range of topics,
including visceral manipulation (I know, say what?!), insulin levels
and breast cancer risk,
and how emotions affect your health. Check out her recent articles below
to get the scoop:
-
Visceral Manipulation for Adhesions & More
Cindy describes her experience with visceral manipulation,
a technique that allows
vital organs to move more freely, even when surgical adhesions
are present. When organs cannot move freely,
circulation becomes restricted, and dysfunction and pain can
result, often in areas far removed from the source.
-
Attitudes, Emotions & Disease
Back in 1952, the Department of Medicine at New York
Hospital-Cornell Medical Center found that diseases and
conditions ranging from eczema and cold hands to migraines and
hypertension were correlated to recurring attitudes and
emotions in patients. Clearly something modern practitioners
could still learn more about today.
-
Swearing Actually Helps with Pain!
Cindy muses on a new study linking pain reduction to swearing.
Researchers hypothesized that swearing would reduce tolerance of
pain due to "catastrophizing." Lo and behold, 64 college
students proved otherwise in a Keele University study in the
U.K.
-
Insulin Resistance & Breast Cancer - No Surprise
Yet another case of the deadly consequences of chronic
hyperinsulimia. Elevated levels of insulin in post-menopausal
women bumps the risk of getting breast cancer up. Women with
insulin levels in the top third had double the risk over women
in the bottom third. Alas, I'm afraid it's going to be awhile
before humans can turn this cycle around.
Notes
to Teri on Being Smoke-Free!
Last week we congratulated Teri on her 8-year
anniversary as a non-smoker. Teri's rather large fan club congratulated
her too, with notes like these:
"Teri, to kick a habit
like smoking is really a 'big deal.' The nicotine is a drug with
exponential power and anyone that can break that chain has really
conquered an army. Keep up the great work because we love you and need
you at our favorite heath needs store. I quit 1-1-81 (for the final of
many tries)..."
"Nice going, 8 years not
smoking! Does your kind of determination work for struggling cake
junkies?"
"Way to go Teri. Breathe
deeply and love the fruits of your non-smoke-filled lungs."
"Hi Teri, Wow what an
accomplishment. Eight years! I’m very happy for you. So great to lead a
healthy life."
"Teri, It is wonderful
that you have been smoke free for 8 years. CONGRATULATIONS! & have a
wonderful day. I'm a very happy customer."
"CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
That’s terrific! Hope you’re well!!! Blessings."
'Til next time, fair members!
Still purringly yours,
