Greetings [[firstname]],

Vote on Fish Oil: Let Your Voice Be Heard

We need your vote! Since we pride ourselves on listening to our fair members, we want to know what you think about our fish oil dilemma.

Turns out our supplier no longer guarantees the EPA/DHA ratio in their fish oil softgels. New batches will still be standardized to a combined EPA and DHA of 300mg.  However, exact amounts of EPA and DHA will vary.

Stephen turned to another high-quality supplier, who guarantees their fish oil has EPA of 180mg and DHA of 120mg, equivalent to what we have been offering.  The only catch is that the guaranteed ratio of EPA and DHA will cost about 40% more.

Our bias is to go with the less expensive form of fish oil. We trust our current supplier's materials, having tested their softgels for more than seven years with consistently outstanding results.

If you have strong opinions, please weigh in now, as we need to make a decision ASAP!

Please vote on your choice now!

Joint Relief for Every Budget

The great Bob Hope once said, "Middle age is when you still believe you'll feel better in the morning." Then old age must be when you still believe you’ll feel better by afternoon. Heh, heh. ^..^

It’s no secret aging comes with creaks and cracks, but did you know osteoarthritis is the top cause of chronic disability in the United States? About half the population experiences some symptoms by age 65, so it’s no small matter to take care of your joints.

Springtime is when humans start heading outdoors, stressing and straining muscles and joints while working in the garden, cleaning out rain gutters, swinging racquets and clubs for sport, or taking up yoga for the first time.

We’re running a special on joint support products to help y’all out.  The good news is that most of our products cost less than you’d pay for a box of chocolates, so live it up this spring, fair members!

Inflammation Causes Stiff, Achy Joints

With age, your joints lose elasticity and flexibility, cartilage wears down, and inflammation builds up in your body from stress and too many pro-inflammatory foods.

With pro-inflammatory chemicals running amuck, your body boosts blood flow and sends white blood cells into your joints, much like police when they suspect a disturbance. Swelling, irritation, and pain inevitably results.

Sadly, this inflammatory process can cause "shock absorbing" cartilage within your joint to wear down, leading to bone grinding against bone causing even more pain.

What to do? Turn to these affordable joint builders to help ease the creaks and cracks of aging and get the most mileage out of your joints this spring and summer:

Glucosamine - $3.87 – Helps Rebuild Cartilage
Adequate glucosamine is necessary create the building blocks of your cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and synovial fluid (joint fluid that keeps joints nourished and lubricated).

Extensively studies, glucosamine binds water in the cartilage matrix to manufacture collagen and normalize cartilage metabolism (which keeps cartilage from breaking down). Glucosamine also acts to soothe joint inflammation, and it is core to most joint formulas (both human and canine!).

As a bonus, when glucosamine is combined with MSM, the joint-relief results are more powerful than either of the two separately.

MSM - $4.95 - Provides Essential Sulfur to Stiff and Toxic Cells

MSM's biggest claim to fame is its contribution of organic sulfur. Sulfur gets a bad rap with most humans because it's associated with the likes of rotten eggs and other ghastly odors. But my guess is you didn’t know that next to water and sodium, sulfur is the most prominent compound in your body and modern soils are deficient (therefore modern foods don't provide enough sulfur)!

For pain relief, sulfur works by relieving pressure at the cellular level, thus helping toxins (including lactic acid, too much alcohol, etc.) to flow out and soothing nutrients to flow in. This translates into better cellular function, blood circulation, and muscle activity in and around joints.

Sulfur also supports collagen production, an essential component of cartilage and connective tissue. Sulfur combines with other compounds to generate connective tissue that supports flexibility and tissue elasticity.

With arteries and lung tissue also subject to cracking, as many of our members know, vitamin C builds new connective tissue as old cells die off. MSM’s contribution is making the protein bonds within cells nice and flexible.

In one study, MSM combined with vitamin C helped regenerate soft skin and improve wound healing (yep, that means better-looking skin and fewer scars for the vain ones among you).

Fast fact: when you break open an aloe vera leaf for use on a burn or blister, you’re applying sulfur through the aloe plant’s sap. Aloe vera is a member of the famous healing tribe, the sulfur-rich garlic family.

Finally, MSM is also needed for enzyme activity, hormone balance, and even proper immune system function. Some folks swear by MSM for allergy and asthma relief (again, sulfur helps cells ditch toxins, in this case allergens, and also take up nutrients more effectively).

Not bad for a cheapskate’s dream of a product in MSM, eh?  ^..^

Fish Oil - $7.95 – Soothes Inflammation and Protects Cartilage

Fish oil inhibits the release of chemicals that cause inflammation by sending the equivalent of a “calm down” message to your body. Also, specific to joints, the omega 3 fatty acids in fish oil decrease the activity of the chemicals that destroy cartilage.

Many of our members claim to have been able to cease arthritis meds altogether by taking massive doses of fish oil each day.

Always on our Top 10 list, most of you already know the benefits of fish oil and will be pleased to save 10% on our large bottles of Fish Oil.

Joint Complex - $4.47 (tabs) & $11.32 (caps) – Cartilage Support and Joint Rejuvenation

Joint Complex packs in MSM and glucosamine along with chondroitin and collagen.

Chondroitin sulfate is a major constituent of cartilage, providing structure, holding water and nutrients, and allowing other molecules to move through cartilage.

Chondroitin sulfate acts like a "liquid magnet" to help attract fluid into the joint tissue molecules. This is important for two reasons: the fluid sweeps nutrients into the cartilage and also acts as a spongy shock absorber.

Supplemental collagen helps replace some of your body's supply, as collagen production dwindles with age (as any beautician will tell you when trying to sell you collagen injections).

Collagen helps keep joints "cushy" too, and may support maintenance of connective tissue you rely on for smooth, pain-free mobility.

Health in the News

  • Probiotics May Help Ward Off Obesity. One year after giving birth, women were less likely to have the most dangerous kind of obesity if they had been given probiotics from the first trimester of pregnancy, found new research that suggests manipulating the balance of bacteria in the gut may help fight obesity.

  • Hot Flashes Linked To Lower Bone Density In Women. UCLA researchers and colleagues analyzed data for 2,213 women between the ages of 42 and 52 who participated in the bone sub-study of the Study of Women's Health Across the Nation to determine whether women with vasomotor symptoms (VMS) — which include hot flashes and night sweats — had lower bone mineral density.

'Til next time, fair members!

Still purringly yours,

Guido
