Menopause Formula for
Hot-Flashing Gals of Summer!
It’s August. It’s hot. And, if you’re hot flashes have you down, you may want
to try our Menopause Formula.
According to Teri, many of our favorite menopausers, herself included,
swear by our Menopause Formula. Teri had this to say:
“Occasionally, I hear from ladies who thought the Menopause Formula had
stopped working for them. When they stopped taking it, they noticed big time
and stocked back up. Me? I put it into my morning protein shake and no
longer have to lie naked on the floor eating ice cream to stay sane.”
So, if you’re experiencing the joys of a hot-flashing summer (or someone you
know is), check out our
Menopause Formula.
Anatomy of a Hot Flash
Guys (or women outside the range of menopause), you may skip ahead, but get
this before you do: hot flashes can add a whopping 8 flaming degrees to a
woman’s skin temperature! It’s not a psychological event. It’s physiological, so
try to show a little sympathy.
Okay, now you can wander over to the Top Ten list or forward this on to a
friend. ^..^
Meanwhile, for our hot-flashing gals, here’s the scoop.
Hot flashes are instigated by menopause-related estrogen decline in the
hypothalamus -- the part of your brain responsible for controlling your
appetite, sleep, sex hormones, and yep, your body temperature.
Crashing estrogen levels confuse the hypothalamus to read core temperature as
“too hot,” in essence, yanking your body’s fire alarm!
Once your alarm is set off, your heart pumps faster to circulate more blood
to your skin. Your body thus radiates heat, putting your (ha ha) internal
sprinkler system on “high.” Yep, that translates into lots of glistening sweat
to cool you right down.
Hot flashes can range from barely noticeable to requiring immediate medical
attention. The Mayo Clinic reports roughly 75% of American women in menopause
experience some degree of hot flashes.
In sharp contrast, less than 10% of women experience hot flashes in places
like Hong Kong, Pakistan, and Mexico. Researchers are still unsure as to cause,
but theories often center on dietary differences as well as emotions such as
anxiety.

Tips for taming hot flashes:
Diet – Avoid cranking your thermostat up with culprits like spicy
foods, alcohol, hot liquids, and large meals. Instead, include foods like
ground flaxseed and others high in plant estrogens like soy.
Exercise – By improving circulation, exercise improves tolerance
for the temperature fluctuations that hot flashes bring on. It also helps
fat kats to drop those extra pounds (being overweight, alas, can prolong the
joys of menopause).
Lifestyle - Ditch the cigarettes (as if you didn’t have enough
reasons already). Nicotine constricts blood vessels, which can actually
intensify and prolong hot flashes.
Clothing - Synthetics are an enemy, as they don’t breathe well.
Relying on natural fabrics and dressing in easily-removable layers are your
best bet for beating drastic temperature changes.
More on Menopause - Estrogen is More than Just a Hormone
for Women
Estrogen’s reputation is often confined to the female reproductive system,
but it’s a vital contributor to the liver, digestive system, urinary tract,
blood vessels, bone, skin, and central nervous system, too. Thus, estrogen
levels contribute to bone-density, body temperature regulation, memory recall,
and skin and artery elasticity.
With that kind of demand, it’s no surprise menopause symptoms range far and
wide. On the roster can be mood swings, insomnia, a thickening waistline, heart
palpitations, memory and concentration problems, thinning hair, and yes,
unfortunately a decreased libido.
What can you do to keep yourself in tip-top shape during “the change?”

Weight Loss Tips from Teri's Call Line
In the height of the quick-fix mentality, Teri gets plenty of folks asking
about weight loss when they call in. This kat was eavesdropping on such a call
and here’s how it went:
Caller: What do you have for weight
loss?
Teri: We don’t sell weight loss
products.
Caller: But what do you have that helps
with weight loss?
Teri: People don’t like to hear this,
but get moving!
Caller: What?
Teri: Get your butt off the couch and
go for a walk, clean your house, do some yoga. MOVE.
Caller: That's no fun.
Teri: It may not be fun, but I
guarantee it will work. So turn off the t.v. and move your body. You will be
glad you did. Just try a little bit each day. Start with 10 minutes and work
your self up to half an hour.
Caller: That still doesn't sound like
fun.
Teri: Your heart and lungs will thank
you.
Caller: OK... (not sounding very happy)
Teri: Call me in a month and let me
know how you are doing…send me an email!
Caller: OK...
Teri: Have the best day and thank you
for calling, don’t forget to move!
Well, one thing we never have to worry about is Teri hawking our pills as
miracles.
We’ll stick with health and leave the miracles to those with higher powers.

Time to scat!
Still purringly yours,
