New Spore-Forming Probiotics Deliver More Live Organisms

Did you know that studies now link probiotics with supporting normal cholesterol levels, keeping h.pylori bacteria in check, avoiding traveler’s bowel upsets, and more?

Usually the only downside to most popular strains of probiotics is their fragility, which requires being more careful with storage and when you take them (we recommend taking them on an empty stomach but some recommend taking them after a meal when stomach acids are diluted). The delicate nature of probiotics, which are living cells after all, also requires that you think twice when buying them, as most of the bugs on the market are dead on arrival, alas.

Our Probiotics 16 has been blended for shelf-stability and we order frequently to keep our stock fresh, however, as vegetative bacteria, the blend that we offer in capsules could never survive in a powdered drink mix, even though many marketing rats like to add fragile vegetative probiotics to their drink mixes as window dressing.

Because probiotics are so important to gut health, when we designed our new Soothing Greens formula, we learned about a strain of probiotics that are stable in foods, even in baked goods.  The difference?  The super stable friendly bacteria are in fact “spore-forming” probiotics.

Based on our research, we selected Ganeden-BC30™ spore-forming probiotics for their superior survivability and confidently added them to our new Soothing Greens product.

Spore-Forming Probiotics Survive all the Way to Your Gut!

Spore-forming organisms grow a protective layer to keep themselves dormant-but-alive until they detect a more favorable environment for their survival. Spore-forming probiotics wait until they reach your intestines before they open up and begin colonizing, and the survival rates of these strategic friendly bacteria are unparalleled. This means no fretting if friendly bacteria will make it through harsh stomach acid all the way to your gut.

Fast fact: While not well known, spore-forming probiotics have actually been around since the early 1930s!

Spore-forming probiotics, in particular, have been linked with protecting DNA against genotoxins. Research suggests that spore-forming Bacillus-based probiotics could be useful for reducing the gastrointestinal risk originating from genotoxic agents.

Idiot-Proof Reasons to Keep Healthy Bacteria

Concentrated in the mouth, intestines, and vaginal tract, probiotics act as microscopic defenders against unfriendly invading organisms. Probiotics also break down food for digestion, produce the lactase enzyme (to help digest milk sugar), produce and support absorption of vitamins in the intestinal tract, and change your intestines pH to create less desirable conditions for harmful organisms.

With a healthy amount of spore-forming probiotics, Soothing Greens simplifies your routine when you want to improve gastro-intestinal health and thus your immune system (I can’t remind you enough, most of your immune system is in your gut!).

At the Hippocrates Institute, Cindy encountered the H-Wave -- a device that sends electrical currents to contract muscles and move fluids, thus helping tissues heal and reduce pain associated with tissue congestion and inflammation. The H-Wave does a bunch of other cool stuff for your system, too, which is exactly what Cindy talks all about this blog entry. Check it out!

Hot Pepper (Capsaisin-Based) Nasal Spray Relieves Allergic Rhinitis

According to a recent study, an all natural, botanical nasal spray provides relief to folks with allergic rhinitis, all without a prescription for traditional steroid sprays.

The wonder ingredient? Capsaicin, which comes from hot peppers and creates none of the addiction problems that steroid formulations create.
