Greetings
[[firstname]],
Save $5 on Soothing
Greens
The holidays are upon us (you humans to be more precise). Perhaps there will
many mornings when you'll awaken to memories of that second (or fifth) holiday
treat. Perhaps you'll be one of our fair members searching your cupboards for nutritional salvation.
Hmm. Methinks shaming you into shunning the treats won't work (it never has).
Okay, so given the realities of all the upcoming parties and temptations, you
may want to consider adding our Soothing Greens product. We designed this
product with Dr. Rodier's help (as you may recall, he specializes in gut
health).
Soothing Greens is loaded with ingredients to support your digestive tract and
immune system alike. Remember, most of your immune system is in your gut
and even moderate intake of alcohol and refined sugar along with stress over the
holidays can disrupt immune system function.
So, this kat decided to put
Soothing Greens on special--early--so y'all can support your health
throughout the holiday season. We're offering Soothing Greens for $5 off
through the end of November, so
stock up now!
As a refresher, here's the goods on all the greens and healing agents in
Soothing Greens.
Soothing Greens
- Help Your Belly Heal From Too Many
Holiday Indulgences
Slippery Elm - works to soothe
and nourish
the intestinal tract and has been studied in
conjunction with Crohn's disease and
ulcerative colitis. Its mucilaginous
properties soothe the throat, heal stomach
and small intestine membranes, and help absorb toxins
in the colon as well as regulate
colonic bacteria for effective elimination.
Interestingly, slippery elm is used for
issues of constipation and diarrhea alike.
Alfalfa Grass - a green "superfood,"
alfalfa contains
digestive regulation enzymes and chlorophyll
-- both important in healing and maintaining a
healthy intestinal tract, liver, and skin.
Alfalfa is known to bind and neutralize
carcinogenic agents in the colon as well as
allergens in the gut.
Barley Grass - another green "superfood,"
barley grass is rich in protein and calcium
and is considered to normalize metabolism.
In addition to supporting healthy cholesterol levels and
being a powerful antioxidant, barley grass
helps the gut by acting as an
anti-inflammatory and providing a heavy dose
of anti-bacterial chlorophyll. Barley grass
neutralizes heavy metals and its small
molecular weight allows it to be absorbed
directly through cell membranes to purify
and build the blood, repair cellular DNA,
and promote anti-aging.
Spirulina - this
blue-green
algae "superfood" packs 21 amino acids, essential
fatty acids, and a wide range of vitamins
and minerals. It's known as an important
detoxifier and is also known for offering
highly-digestible protein and
bioavailability of nutrients, making it a
good energy booster. Spirulina's high
chlorophyl levels helps it draw out toxins
and it is often used with malabsorption
issues. It's alkaline properties help
balance acidic foods like coffee, sugar, and
alcohol, while its immune-stimulating
properties make it an important anti-cancer
ally.
Dried Banana Powder - Bananas
are one of nature's best antacids and
gastric lining protectors. Bananas offer
terrific defense against ulcers, pack a
powerful punch of potassium, and include all
the vitamins, minerals, aminos and essential
fatty acids as well! Bananas, by the way,
are considered an alkalinizing fruit.
Larch Arabinogalactan - The
name sounds like a super hero, and no
surprise, just
check out the research on this botanical. Larch works as a prebiotic to feed
healthy bacteria. Larch also boosts
general immune health and immune regulation
efficiency (it is considered a powerful
immune modulator). Larch also helps produce
critical short-chain fatty-acids, which
support healthy
elimination, gastrointestinal lining protection,
and overall gut health. Larch now
accompanies many cancer protocols for its
tremendous
immune-boosting benefits.
Ganeden BC30™
Probiotics - we use a patented and completely
shelf-stable
spore-forming probiotics
from Ganeden, a leader in delivering live
probiotics in food and beverage products. Ganeden
probiotics produce a strain of lactic acid, which
supports formation of good bacteria in the gut and
forces out unfriendly, disease-promoting bacteria.
No more fuss about refrigeration or worrying
about dead bugs or when to take your probiotics. The BC30
bugs are like special forces, able to
survive and do their job, no matter how
harsh the environment! Yeah!
Citrus Bioflavonoids -
powerful antioxidants and potent immune and
cardiovascular health boosters. Bioflavanoids
also are considered helpful in healing
allergic conditions, which often start in
the gut and the digestion process.
Brown Rice Protein - gentle,
easy-to-digest protein to nourish your
trillions of cells and support them in any
immune battle.

Dr. Rodier's Blog: Chronic Pain, Overmedicating & Recent Reads
Dr. Rodier has been blogging up a storm
as of late, and this kat thought a few of this topics may be of interest to you
folks. Read on!
October Books
From evolution to cellular function theory to politics and back, Dr.
Rodier gives synopses and opinions of his recent reads - and this
guy is always plowing through something!
Dealing with Chronic Pain - A Missing Tool
Dr. Rodier explores the connection between inflammation and the gut,
citing yet another recent journal article linking the two. A must
read for anyone who experiences the "oofing" around that comes with
age or illness.
Overmedicating Concerns
Dr. Rodier describes a patient's experience being overmedicated for
fatigue and unconfirmed thyroid issues. He also cites several other
examples of what he considers irresponsible prescribing and
encourages readers to seek caregivers willing to help them move
beyond prescription use.
Shock-Wave Therapy Helps Bones Heal
After suffering a
broken bone, the last thing you want is surgery if the bone doesn't
heal properly. Unfortunately with age or lacking nutrition this is
an all-too-common phenomenon.
When fractured bones fail to heal, a serious
complication referred to as “nonunion” can develop, meaning the bone
has been interrupted or stalled somehow in the healing process.
Nonunions have meant
surgery for many in the past, but a new study published in the
November 2009 issue of The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery,
shows nonunions respond very well to shock-wave therapy.
In fact, researchers
say this non-invasive treatment is as equally effective as surgery
when it comes to healing bones.
The study follows patients who received surgery to repair nonunions
and patients who received weekly shock-wave therapy sessions for
four weeks.
The results showed shock-wave therapy
stimulated bone healing within six months, and patients felt better
in the short-term than surgery patients. No differences in healing
at 12 and 24 months could be seen between the two groups!
Pretty cool, eh?! How does it work? Shock-wave therapy helps reduce pain and appears
to induce a regeneration of bone by stimulating certain growth
factors, and this stimulation prompts a metabolic reaction similar to
what occurs during the natural bone-healing process.
Hmm...reminds me of
an article this kat discussed long ago on the healing effects of
purring. Here's a more recent
summary of the research. ^..^
And, to keep your bones strong and able to heal, make sure you're
getting plenty of bone-friendly nutrition like
calcium with magnesium and
vitamin D3.

Enjoy the fall fair members!

Still purringly yours,
