Fiber Fit Tips
Fiber Fit
is a heart-healthy
product, with soluble fiber (apple pectin, oat bran, and psyllium seed husks,
the latter providing valuable non-soluble fiber as well).
Fast Facts: Fiber is a diverse group of chemical compounds, including:
cellulose, hemicelluloses, mucilages, microscopic polysaccharides, pectins,
gums, and lignin. All are complex carbohydrates except lignin, a very tough
substance found in all plants.
Meanwhile, here are some tips for adding fiber to your diet:
- Add fiber gradually over a period of weeks. Increasing fiber intake too
rapidly can cause uncomfortable bloating and gas.
- Add probiotics to help your
system adjust to additional fiber (eliminate that gas with friendly bacteria).
- Drink plenty of liquids when you increase your soluble fiber intake, since
soluble fiber binds with water to form a gel.
- Eat fiber from a variety of
dietary sources (you need both soluble and non-soluble fiber).
- Spread out
your dietary fiber throughout the day.
- Read food labels and opt for high
fiber choices.
- Collect high-fiber recipes that actually taste good (more
below)!
With enough fiber in your diet, you may notice having two or more bowel
movements a day and your stools should be larger and softer. This is normal and
incredibly healthy!
Softer, bulkier stools move more quickly through your system and prevent
toxins from remaining in contact with the colon wall, where they can cause
serious health problems.
For more detailed information on fiber and common conditions such as
diabetes, diverticulitis, high blood pressure, constipation, and cholesterol, go

Meanwhile, if you have an extensive library in your bathroom, there’s a good
chance you’re not getting enough fiber, as you should be able to “do your
business” before you have time to settle in for a good read. Just one kat’s
opinion.

New Study: More Fiber in Women's Diet Means Fewer Pounds
In a study published in the
September issue of the Journal of the American
Dietetic Association, researchers examined dietary intake relative to body
mass index (BMI) in a sample of over 4,000 adults.
Researchers concluded that women who had an adequate intake of fiber (20-30
grams) enjoyed a positive effect with respect to controlling their weight.
In contrast, women who did not consume similar amounts of fiber had a greater
risk of being overweight.
You see, since dietary fiber is not actually digested in your stomach or
upper intestine, its bulky properties make you feel more full and more satisfied
with less food (quite helpful for “waist watchers” among us).
So review your own diet and supplement with
Fiber Fit if
you’re coming up short!
Fiber Tip for Cats Too
Meanwhile, for all of you feline fanciers, consider growing wheat grass from
seeds and treating your cats to some fresh greens. Nibbling on grass can aid in
digestion and help remove hairballs. Even outdoor cats benefit from fresh grass,
which has more nutritional value than common grass and none of the lawn
chemicals.

Happy Birthday to Long-Time Member, T. David Thompson!
The rumor has been confirmed. Long-time member, T. David Thompson is turning
75 on October 24th and his friends are throwing him a party!
T. David shared the following when asked whether we could do a birthday
announcement:
“Absolutely, I'm proud of the fact that I'm now in such good health at almost
75 -- after I told most of my local M.D.s to shove it and took control of my
health back in 2001.”
Well, David has never been one to soft pedal his perspectives!
T. David added that he likes the new
Liquid Calcium
softgel (yes, so do we), but we could package
the Sublingual B Trio
better to avoid tablets knocking around in such a big bottle. Got it – we’ll
work on it!
Meanwhile, “Happy Birthday!” And here’s to many more! If you’d like to send
your best wishes to T. David, here’s his email address:

Okay, enough for today.
Still purringly yours,
