Dear Friend,

To paraphrase Simon & Garfunkel: slow down, you eat too fast! Greek researchers have found that eating slowly boosts the levels of two key hormones that help you feel full. The researchers compared post-meal blood samples from two groups: those who inhaled their meals in 5 minutes and those who took a more leisurely half hour to dine. The theory is that eating more slowly gives your small intestine more time to produce these hunger-controlling hormones.

Try a few simple tricks. Put your fork down between bites. Take frequent sips of water. Research supports chewing your food 20 times before swallowing it, remember digestion starts in your mouth!

Remember the tortoise and the hare. The race—or the weight loss—doesn't always go to the swiftest!

Your friend,

Teri
