PayPal No Longer a Payment Option...Please Read On!

Just when we thought the bumps were over (with our new shopping cart), PayPal notified us that they would no longer allow us to use their services.

We wasted a lot of time trying to talk to PayPal drones. The brain trust at PayPal decided that our Progesterone Cream was too much of a risk for them to continue to do business with us. Why, you ask?

According to PayPal, they consider “progesterone” products as “prescription-only” items and we must remove our Progesterone Cream from our shopping cart in order to continue to do business with them.

PayPal is wrong on this one. Progesterone cream, used topically, is considered a cosmetic in the United States. It can be sold over the counter, in contrast with oral progesterone products, which must be FDA-approved and sold by prescription.

Many members rave about our Progesterone Cream and so we have not decided to discontinue this popular product – not yet at least.

Of course, we would like to hear what our community thinks. Please let us know your thoughts (guido@ourhealthcoop.com).

Better yet, please let PayPal know your thoughts via their website at: http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_contact-general

Or, if you would really like to help PayPal pay attention, you can go to the Silicon Valley Better Business Bureau website at www.bbbsilicon.org to file your complaint. Your PayPal account ID must be included in your complaint.

It’s rather odd that PayPal’s parent company, eBay, has no trouble selling progesterone cream by many dozens of companies.

The Future of Natural Progesterone Creams

While progesterone cream is still considered an over-the-counter product, the future of progesterone creams and other hormone-related products, like DHEA and melatonin, are genuinely at risk of being classified as regulated substances.

The FDA is starting to investigate complaints against companies that sell progesterone creams, including compounding pharmacies, which compound and dispense bio-identical hormone replacement therapies (BHRTs).

Pharmaceutical manufacturer Wyeth recently filed a Citizen’s Petition with the FDA to impose harmful restrictions on the compounding and dispensing of BHRTs, which would include our Progesterone Cream. See articles below:

Our female members can voice your opposition to the Wyeth petition by going directly to the FDA comment link and telling the FDA your story about the benefits that bio-identical hormones have made in your life. The comment filing period ends on April 4, 2006 at which time the FDA will make its decision.

As a community, we can make a difference. Please weigh in with your perspectives and encourage your friends to do the same!

What Members are Saying

"If you haven't done so already, I hope you will encourage everyone to write to the FDA to let them know how they feel about this...While I would love to use PayPal, but if you can't convince them to change their mind, drop them. Keep the Progesterone Cream!" - Karl G.

"PayPal is archaic in their thinking. Progesterone cream is readily available over the counter. When I had my small skin care business I bought your progesterone cream by the case. My gals loved it! Not only did it work but you couldn't beat the cost. Stick to your guns... go with another company for your online payments." - Terri L.

"Well, wasn't that just the stupidest thing I have read today. Since it is so obvious that anyone can purchase progesterone cream over the counter (or via websites). So, are they removing every health/vitamin store, grocery store and chiropractor's office from their client list? I doubt it. You will most likely find that they specifically targeted the Co-op. You probably tried to speak to more than 'drones' -- you've got to go up high up. Therefore, you need to get hold of someone whose reading comprehension is above first or second grade level. ( I can't say 'third' grade because there were some of us who were reading Dumas by that age). Or you can tell them to 'put it where the sun don't shine'." -  B. Smith

"How about using http://safepayment.com? And keep an eye open for Google to produce one. Thanks for all you do!' - Rachel

"I filed a complaint at both Paypal and www.bbbsilicon.org!" - Kathy G.

"PayPal is no pal to the people, just another corporate greed monster that has no interest in serving people. Screw 'em!" - J.

"You are right to discontinue PayPal - they are wrong about the Progesterone cream!! It helped me a lot!!"
