Our Health Co-op Donates Vitamins to St. Joseph’s House of Hospitality in Rochester, New York

May 14, 2004

WEST PALM BEACH – Our Health Co-op, an online dietary supplement company, donated approximately 600 bottles of Multi-Vites to St. Joseph’s House of Hospitality and St. Michael’s Kitchen in Rochester, NY. The donation was made possible through member contributions to Our Health Co-op’s Free-to-the-Poor Program.

The Free-to-the-Poor Program allows Co-op customers, or members, to donate funds each time they make an online order at OurHealthCoop.com. The money is then used to supply Multi-Vites, Kid-Vites, or Sam’s Antioxidant Formula for those individuals and organizations that can’t afford basic multi-vitamins for themselves or their constituents.

Dr. Andrew Saul, co-founder of the charitable vitamin dispensaries at St. Joseph’s and contributing editor for the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine, publicly thanked Our Health Co-op and it’s customers in his recent electronic newsletter, www.DoctorYourself.com.

Dr. Saul wrote, “The Co-op's ‘Free to the Poor’ program is, I think, the very model of corporate responsibility. I would especially like to publicly thank the members of Our Health Co-op, whose contributions made this life-affirming donation possible.”

For over twenty years, Dr. Saul has overseen the vitamin dispensaries at St. Joseph’s. He found that offering a good daily multiple vitamin to the poor and homeless had notable improvements in their health, especially among drug addicts and alcoholics. At St. Joseph’s, between 50 and 100 people every day benefit from nutritional supplementation that they would otherwise not be getting.

Cindy Marteney, President of Our Health Co-op, declared her gratification to all the Co-op members who continually support the Free-to-the-Poor Program. “Even with modest individual donations of $1.00, our collective efforts in helping individuals and organizations in need can be substantial. We have an amazing community of caring members and we are honored to be a steward for a collective impact on the world.”
